Record and send a video message

You can record a voice or video message and send it to your ooVoo and e-mail contacts and/or upload it to YouTube. E-mail recipients who do not have ooVoo installed on their computers can click on a link to play the video messages. 

 

To record and send a video message:
  1. Select Send video message from the Actions menu. The video message window appears.
  2. If you have a web camera but prefer to send a voice message, click . Camera off appears and you can record a voice message. To turn the camera on, click .
    If the camera is turned off or not connected, your picture (added in your contact card) will appear in the video window.
  3. Click to start recording a message. Recording... appears above the video pane and a time indication bar appears below. You can adjust the microphone volume by moving the slide bar.
  4. Click when you have finished recording your message. The recording will be automatically stopped when the time limit is reached.
  5. To preview the message, click . You can adjust the speaker volume by moving the slide bar. If you want to record the message again, click .
  6. If desired, you can add a short text message in the optional text field. The text will be sent with the video message.
  7. You can send the video message to ooVoo contacts, email recipients and even upload it to YouTube. To select ooVoo friends, click Add. A sliding contact list will appear. You can click to sort the list or change the view. You can type letters in the Find a contact field to search for the contact. Select the contact(s) and click Add. The selected contact(s) will appear in a list. To remove a contact, select the contact from the list and click .
    You can drag a contact from the sliding window into the video message window or position the main application window next to the ooVoo video message window and drag a contact into the video message window.
  8. To select email contacts, click . Type an email address and click Add or click Address book (if using Microsoft® Outlook™) to select email contacts. Click OK. The selected contact(s) will appear in a list. If desired, you can edit the e-mail subject in the E-mail Subject field and add a personal text message in the optional filed. You can select the language for the invitation by using the scroll-down arrow. Click Next.
  9. To upload it to YouTube, click . The YouTube icon appears in the recipients list. After clicking Send, a popup window appears to add your YouTube username and password. It's recommended to select the Remember my details checkbox so you will not need to enter this information the next time. Click Next. A window appears to add a title and tag (used to search for the video) for your video. The title must be at least 5 characters and the tag must be at least 3 characters. Click Upload. After the video clip is uploaded, a window appears with the link to the video. You can click Copy link to paste the browser link and to send it to friends.
    You can only upload video files to YouTube.
  10. To remove recipients (including uploading to YouTube), select the contacts from the list and click .
  11. If desired, you can save the recorded video message to your computer. Click Save As. A file selection window appears. Enter a name for the file and choose a folder. You can save the file in 'avi' or 'flash (.flv)' formats. The 'avi' format will only save the video and the 'flash' format will save the video and other details. Click OK.
  12. If you are not ready to send the video message, click . You will be prompted to save the message in the Drafts folder. Click Yes to save the draft. To open the message, select History from the ooVoo menu and select Video messages history and go to the Drafts tab.
  13. Click Send.
    A progress window will appear if some time is needed to send the message.

 

 

To upload your video message to YouTube: 

  1. Record a video message (see the above section).
  2. Click . The YouTube icon appears in the recipients list.
  3. Click Send. A popup window appears to add your YouTube username and password. It's recommended to select the Remember my details checkbox so you will not need to enter this information the next time. Click Next. A window appears to add a title and tag (used to search for the video) for your video. The title must be at least 5 characters and the tag must be at least 3 characters. Click Upload. After the video clip is uploaded, a window appears with the link to the video. You can click Copy link to paste the browser link and to send it to friends.
    You can only upload video files to YouTube.
